“The sounds of the looms, the scents of the oils lubricating the machines, the dust…. have all become the memories of my childhood – the memory of my father's textile factory,” this is how the Israeli artist Roni Ben Ari describes her memories as a child which have inspired her recent video called LOOM | FATHER | REQUIEM.
The exhibition will last till January 31, 2013.
“I found the orphaned parts of the textile machine in an attic of a house in old Tel Aviv,“ she describes. “I photographed them dusty as they were, against a white background. Of the many photographs I weaved a pattern by means of animation film, shot in stop motion technique. It is an old manual shooting technique. Today this method has been replaced by modern procedure, much like the old looms that turned digital,“ Roni Ben Ari explains.
